Fermob Care & Warranty

Fermob Care Advice

Please take extra care when unwrapping your Fermob furniture to avoid damage. Cuts from knives or scissors, scratches from staples, or damage caused by placing tabletops directly on the ground are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

CARE & CLEANING FERMOB FURNITURE

Australian weather conditions can be harsh, so understanding how to care for your outdoor furniture is important, especially if your furniture is fully exposed to the elements all year round.

We encourage you to take precautions to ensure its longevity, whether placed under cover or in open spaces.

Important points to note:

1.      Steel products will naturally develop signs of rust over time, even with a protective coating. This is a normal part of the ageing process for steel and iron-based materials and is not considered a defect. To maintain the appearance and longevity of your product, we recommend using anti-rust treatments and touch-up paint as required.

2.      During rainy periods, slightly tilt tables when not in use to prevent water from accumulating, especially on steel sheet tabletops.

3.      Do not cover with a plastic layer or plastic tablecloth and avoid contact with any material which may retain water or humidity, flowerpots,, trivets, combined with high temperature, humidity, may degrade the paint.

4.      Immediately clean bird droppings and tree sap from furniture, as they can be particularly damaging and may permanently stain your furniture.

5.      Colours may gradually adjust over time. Any changes in visual appearance are a natural part of the ageing process.

6.      Leaving metal furniture in the direct path of sprinklers may cause permanent watermarks.

7.      Chlorine can be corrosive to metal furniture. Always follow proper guidelines when using chemicals near your Fermob furniture to prevent damage. If placing furniture poolside, we recommend cleaning your product regularly to avoid chlorine spray.

8.      Powder-coated steel and aluminium are sturdy and durable, but not completely scratch-resistant. Fermob touch-up paint is an easy solution for minor scratches. Please reach-out for assistance.

9.      If you live in a coastal environment, we recommend cleaning your product regularly to avoid salt buildup.

Care & Cleaning metal furniture:

Clean your metal furniture using water, soapy water or a non-abrasive detergent. If you are unsure which product to use, test it on a non-visible part of your furniture.

Apply with a soft sponge or soft cloth. DO NOT USE abrasive products or any products that may affect the surface of your Fermob products. Limit the use of pressure washing.

Be mindful of retention areas where cleaning products can be trapped, as this may cause damage over time.

Rinse with water and wipe carefully to avoid traces of limescale.

Care & Cleaning OTF or thread furniture:

Protect outdoor technical fabric from damage caused by sharp objects or heat sources such as cigarettes.

Care & Cleaning teak furniture:

Teak furniture is the only wood that is totally rot-proof and naturally resistant to external damage, it protects itself.

When left outdoors, untreated teak will naturally adapt to the element, gradually developing an attractive silver-grey patina. To help prevent mould or moss, we recommend occasional cleaning with warm, soapy water.

Untreated teak is not stain-resistant. To fully protect teak furniture from stains you may apply a sealer, which creates an invisible barrier to prevent liquids from penetrating the wood.

We do not provide guidance on sealing teak products, we recommend consulting the sealer supplier.

Care & Cleaning of your cushion furniture:

The fabrics used on Fermob furniture are stain, mildew, tear, UV and abrasion resistant. We recommend bringing cushions under cover during inclement or prolonged exposure to sunlight to maintain their quality and longevity.

FERMOB WARRANTY

Furniture

The Fermob furniture warranty excludes the following:

Any damage arising from insufficient care or from failing to follow Fermob's advice for assembling, using, maintaining, and storing furniture.

General wear and tear or slight natural fading of the materials used.

The corrosion of steel furniture, including stainless-steel fixings, is a common issue in coastal areas or confined, chlorinated environments. For those residing on the beachfront, it is advisable to use furniture made from aluminium instead of steel, as salt air and water accelerate the corrosion of steel significantly compared to non-beachfront areas. While all our steel collections undergo additional protective treatments, they are unfortunately not sufficient to withstand salt-laden air.

Corrosion originating from scratches or abrasions from general wear and tear that have not been treated via standard cleaning and maintenance processes.

Minor spots of rust under table tops and seats, on bases or around folding parts on steel furniture. These are a natural outcome of the material used (iron) and can be treated using the maintenance advice provided.

Rings or stains undeclared on unpacking (including stains related to the humidity retention + heat combination)

Damaged, converted or modified furniture.

Any changes in the visual appearance of wood that are directly linked to ageing. As wood is a living material, the appearance of its surface evolves naturally over time.

Lighting

The Fermob lighting warranty excludes the following:

Modified lighting products.

Lighting products that have been repaired using components not supplied by the brand, or without following the instructions provided by Fermob.

Lighting products that have been used in a way not recommended by Fermob.

Damage associated with insufficient care or failure to follow precautions (e.g. not to open up the light, leaving uncharged for long periods) and advice.

Marks or stains not declared on unpacking

Natural wear and patina of materials used.

Start of corrosion due to scratches or abrasions caused by use, which cannot be eliminated by normal cleaning and maintenance.

Cleaning information for all products can be found in this document.
